Exodus

你 在 百 姓 面 前 所 要 立 的 典 章 是 這 樣 ：

Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.

你 若 買 希 伯 來 人 作 奴 僕 ， 他 必 服 事 你 六 年 ； 第 七 年 他 可 以 自 由 ， 白 白 的 出 去 。

If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

他 若 孤 身 來 就 可 以 孤 身 去 ； 他 若 有 妻 ， 他 的 妻 就 可 以 同 他 出 去 。

If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married , then his wife shall go out with him. ^{by himself: Heb. with his body}

他 主 人 若 給 他 妻 子 ， 妻 子 給 他 生 了 兒 子 或 女 兒 ， 妻 子 和 兒 女 要 歸 主 人 ， 他 要 獨 自 出 去 。

If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.

倘 或 奴 僕 明 說 ： 我 愛 我 的 主 人 和 我 的 妻 子 兒 女 ， 不 願 意 自 由 出 去 。

And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: ^{shall: Heb. saying shall say}

他 的 主 人 就 要 帶 他 到 審 判 官 （ 審 判 官 或 作 ： 神 ； 下 同 ） 那 裡 ， 又 要 帶 他 到 門 前 ， 靠 近 門 框 ， 用 錐 子 穿 他 的 耳 朵 ， 他 就 永 遠 服 事 主 人 。

Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

人 若 賣 女 兒 作 婢 女 ， 婢 女 不 可 像 男 僕 那 樣 出 去 。

And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.

主 人 選 定 他 歸 自 己 ， 若 不 喜 歡 他 ， 就 要 許 他 贖 身 ； 主 人 既 然 用 詭 詐 待 他 ， 就 沒 有 權 柄 賣 給 外 邦 人 。

If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her. ^{please: Heb. be evil in the eyes of, etc}

主 人 若 選 定 他 給 自 己 的 兒 子 ， 就 當 待 他 如 同 女 兒 。

And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.

若 另 娶 一 個 ， 那 女 子 的 吃 食 、 衣 服 ， 並 好 合 的 事 ， 仍 不 可 減 少 。

If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.

若 不 向 他 行 這 三 樣 ， 他 就 可 以 不 用 錢 贖 ， 白 白 的 出 去 。

And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.

打 人 以 致 打 死 的 ， 必 要 把 他 治 死 。

He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.

人 若 不 是 埋 伏 著 殺 人 ， 乃 是 　 神 交 在 他 手 中 ， 我 就 設 下 一 個 地 方 ， 他 可 以 往 那 裡 逃 跑 。

And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.

人 若 任 意 用 詭 計 殺 了 他 的 鄰 舍 ， 就 是 逃 到 我 的 壇 那 裡 ， 也 當 捉 去 把 他 治 死 。

But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

打 父 母 的 ， 必 要 把 他 治 死 。

And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.

拐 帶 人 口 ， 或 是 把 人 賣 了 ， 或 是 留 在 他 手 下 ， 必 要 把 他 治 死 。

And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

咒 罵 父 母 的 ， 必 要 把 他 治 死 。

And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death. ^{curseth: or, revileth}

人 若 彼 此 相 爭 ， 這 個 用 石 頭 或 是 拳 頭 打 那 個 ， 尚 且 不 至 於 死 ， 不 過 躺 臥 在 床 ，

And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed: ^{another: or, his neighbour}

若 再 能 起 來 扶 杖 而 出 ， 那 打 他 的 可 算 無 罪 ； 但 要 將 他 耽 誤 的 工 夫 用 錢 賠 補 ， 並 要 將 他 全 然 醫 好 。

If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed. ^{the loss: Heb. his ceasing}

人 若 用 棍 子 打 奴 僕 或 婢 女 ， 立 時 死 在 他 的 手 下 ， 他 必 要 受 刑 。

And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. ^{punished: Heb. avenged}

若 過 一 兩 天 才 死 ， 就 可 以 不 受 刑 ， 因 為 是 用 錢 買 的 。

Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.

人 若 彼 此 爭 鬥 ， 傷 害 有 孕 的 婦 人 ， 甚 至 墜 胎 ， 隨 後 卻 無 別 害 ， 那 傷 害 他 的 ， 總 要 按 婦 人 的 丈 夫 所 要 的 ， 照 審 判 官 所 斷 的 ， 受 罰 。

If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

若 有 別 害 ， 就 要 以 命 償 命 ，

And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

以 眼 還 眼 ， 以 牙 還 牙 ， 以 手 還 手 ， 以 腳 還 腳 ，

Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

以 烙 還 烙 ， 以 傷 還 傷 ， 以 打 還 打 。

Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

人 若 打 壞 了 他 奴 僕 或 是 婢 女 的 一 隻 眼 ， 就 要 因 他 的 眼 放 他 去 得 以 自 由 。

And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.

若 打 掉 了 他 奴 僕 或 是 婢 女 的 一 個 牙 ， 就 要 因 他 的 牙 放 他 去 得 以 自 由 。

And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.

牛 若 觸 死 男 人 或 是 女 人 ， 總 要 用 石 頭 打 死 那 牛 ， 卻 不 可 吃 他 的 肉 ； 牛 的 主 人 可 算 無 罪 。

If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.

倘 若 那 牛 素 來 是 觸 人 的 ， 有 人 報 告 了 牛 主 ， 他 竟 不 把 牛 拴 著 ， 以 致 把 男 人 或 是 女 人 觸 死 ， 就 要 用 石 頭 打 死 那 牛 ， 牛 主 也 必 治 死 。

But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past , and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.

若 罰 他 贖 命 的 價 銀 ， 他 必 照 所 罰 的 贖 他 的 命 。

If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.

牛 無 論 觸 了 人 的 兒 子 或 是 女 兒 ， 必 照 這 例 辦 理 。

Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.

牛 若 觸 了 奴 僕 或 是 婢 女 ， 必 將 銀 子 三 十 舍 客 勒 給 他 們 的 主 人 ， 也 要 用 石 頭 把 牛 打 死 。

If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.

人 若 敞 著 井 口 ， 或 挖 井 不 遮 蓋 ， 有 牛 或 驢 掉 在 裡 頭 ，

And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;

井 主 要 拿 錢 賠 還 本 主 人 ， 死 牲 畜 要 歸 自 己 。

The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.

這 人 的 牛 若 傷 了 那 人 的 牛 ， 以 至 於 死 ， 他 們 要 賣 了 活 牛 ， 平 分 價 值 ， 也 要 平 分 死 牛 。

And if one man's ox hurt another's, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.

人 若 知 道 這 牛 素 來 是 觸 人 的 ， 主 人 竟 不 把 牛 拴 著 ， 他 必 要 以 牛 還 牛 ， 死 牛 要 歸 自 己 。

Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past , and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.
