當那一天，耶穌從房子裡出來，坐在海邊。

The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

有許多人到他那裡聚集，他只得上船坐下，眾人都站在岸上。

And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

他用比喻對他們講許多道理，說：有一個撒種的出去撒種；

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

撒的時候，有落在路旁的，飛鳥來吃盡了；

And when he sowed, some {seeds} fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

有落在土淺石頭地上的，土既不深，發苗最快，

Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

日頭出來一曬，因為沒有根，就枯乾了；

And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

有落在荊棘裡的，荊棘長起來，把他擠住了；

And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

又有落在好土裡的，就結實，有一百倍的，有六十倍的，有三十倍的。

But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

有耳可聽的，就應當聽！

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

門徒進前來，問耶穌說：對眾人講話，為甚麼用比喻呢？

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

耶穌回答說：因為天國的奧祕只叫你們知道，不叫他們知道。

He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

凡有的，還要加給他，叫他有餘；凡沒有的，連他所有的，也要奪去。

For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

所以我用比喻對他們講，是因他們看也看不見，聽也聽不見，也不明白。

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

在他們身上，正應了以賽亞的預言，說：你們聽是要聽見，卻不明白；看是要看見，卻不曉得；

And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

因為這百姓油蒙了心，耳朵發沉，眼睛閉著，恐怕眼睛看見，耳朵聽見，心裡明白，回轉過來，我就醫治他們。

For this people's heart is waxed gross, and {their} ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with {their} eyes, and hear with {their} ears, and should understand with {their} heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

但你們的眼睛是有福的，因為看見了；你們的耳朵也是有福的，因為聽見了。

But blessed {are} your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

我實在告訴你們，從前有許多先知和義人要看你們所看的，卻沒有看見，要聽你們所聽的，卻沒有聽見。

For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous {men} have desired to see {those things} which ye see, and have not seen {them}; and to hear {those things} which ye hear, and have not heard {them}.

所以，你們當聽這撒種的比喻。

Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

凡聽見天國道理不明白的，那惡者就來，把所撒在他心裡的奪了去；這就是撒在路旁的了。

When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth {it} not, then cometh the wicked {one}, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

撒在石頭地上的，就是人聽了道，當下歡喜領受，

But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

只因心裡沒有根，不過是暫時的，及至為道遭了患難，或是受了逼迫，立刻就跌倒了。

Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. {offended: he relapseth, or, falleth into sin}

撒在荊棘裡的，就是人聽了道，後來有世上的思慮、錢財的迷惑把道擠住了，不能結實。

He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

撒在好地上的，就是人聽道明白了，後來結實，有一百倍的，有六十倍的，有三十倍的。

But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth {it}; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

耶穌又設個比喻對他們說：天國好像人撒好種在田裡，

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

及至人睡覺的時候，有仇敵來，將稗子撒在麥子裡就走了。

But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

到長苗吐穗的時候，稗子也顯出來。

But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

田主的僕人來告訴他說：主阿，你不是撒好種在田裡麼？從那裡來的稗子呢？

So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

主人說：這是仇敵做的。僕人說：你要我們去薅出來麼？

He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

主人說：不必，恐怕薅稗子，連麥子也拔出來。

But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

容這兩樣一齊長，等著收割。當收割的時候，我要對收割的人說，先將稗子薅出來，捆成捆，留著燒；惟有麥子要收在倉裡。

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

他又設個比喻對他們說：天國好像一粒芥菜種，有人拿去種在田裡。

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

這原是百種裡最小的，等到長起來，卻比各樣的菜都大，且成了樹，天上的飛鳥來宿在他的枝上。

Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

他又對他們講個比喻說：天國好像麵酵，有婦人拿來，藏在三斗麵裡，直等全團都發起來。

Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. {measures: the word in the Greek is a measure containing about a peck and a half, wanting a little more than a pint}

這都是耶穌用比喻對眾人說的話；若不用比喻，就不對他們說甚麼。

All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

這是要應驗先知的話，說：我要開口用比喻，把創世以來所隱藏的事發明出來。

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

當下，耶穌離開眾人，進了房子。他的門徒進前來，說：請把田間稗子的比喻講給我們聽。

Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

他回答說：那撒好種的就是人子；

He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

田地就是世界；好種就是天國之子；稗子就是那惡者之子；

The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked {one};

撒稗子的仇敵就是魔鬼；收割的時候就是世界的末了；收割的人就是天使。

The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

將稗子薅出來用火焚燒，世界的末了也要如此。

As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

人子要差遣使者，把一切叫人跌倒的和作惡的，從他國裡挑出來，

The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; {things...: or, scandals}

丟在火爐裡；在那裡必要哀哭切齒了。

And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

那時，義人在他們父的國裡，要發出光來，像太陽一樣。有耳可聽的，就應當聽！

Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

天國好像寶貝藏在地裡，人遇見了就把他藏起來，歡歡喜喜的去變賣一切所有的，買這塊地。

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

天國又好像買賣人尋找好珠子，

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

遇見一顆重價的珠子，就去變賣他一切所有的，買了這顆珠子。

Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

天國又好像網撒在海裡，聚攏各樣水族，

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

網既滿了，人就拉上岸來，坐下，揀好的收在器具裡，將不好的丟棄了。

Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

世界的末了也要這樣。天使要出來，從義人中把惡人分別出來，

So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

丟在火爐裡；在那裡必要哀哭切齒了。

And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

耶穌說：這一切的話你們都明白了麼？他們說：我們明白了。

Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

他說：凡文士受教作天國的門徒，就像一個家主從他庫裡拿出新舊的東西來。

Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe {which is} instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man {that is} an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure {things} new and old.

耶穌說完了這些比喻，就離開那裡，

And it came to pass, {that} when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

來到自己的家鄉，在會堂裡教訓人，甚至他們都希奇，說：這人從那裡有這等智慧和異能呢？

And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this {man} this wisdom, and {these} mighty works?

這不是木匠的兒子麼？他母親不是叫馬利亞麼？他弟兄們不是叫雅各、約西（有古卷：約瑟）、西門、猶大麼？

Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

他妹妹們不是都在我們這裡麼？這人從那裡有這一切的事呢？

And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this {man} all these things?

他們就厭棄他（厭棄他：原文是因他跌倒）。耶穌對他們說：大凡先知，除了本地本家之外，沒有不被人尊敬的。

And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

耶穌因為他們不信，就在那裡不多行異能了。

And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
